Learning the skills and knowledge for creating, refining, and sharing works in the Arts, Media, and Entertainment industry promotes teamwork, communication, creative thinking, and decision-making abilities. These are all traits needed to function successfully in the competitive and media-rich 21st century. Whether the student has already achieved a level of accomplishment or demonstrated an interest or potential to grow in an art form, Visual and Performing Arts Magnets provide highly rewarding learning experiences.

Program Capacity 2016-2017:
The Film & Media Magnet program provides a diverse learning environment for interdisciplinary exploration in the cinematic arts as well as other media, including social-media. Even if film and media is not a career choice, the skills learned through this program (such as technology and collaboration) are beneficial no matter what career you choose. The program aims to:
• Engage individuals from diverse cultural backgrounds,
• Facilitate exploration of the broad potentials of cinematic arts as ubiquitous tools across multiple domains,
• Develop imaginative critical thinkers who may become leaders in the field of cinematic arts.
The FAM program provides a rigorous curriculum focused on the Common Core Standards approached through the lens of film and media with the intent to prepare them for college or a career in the cinematic arts or other media art forms. Honors courses are available for students who meet the criteria.
