We are working to expand our educational mission of inspiring, challenging, and educating our students.  The Barton Hill Elementary STEAM Maritime Magnet faculty and staff will strategically collaborate with students, parents, and community members to ensure and to bolster academic success for its students in the 21st century.  The Barton Hill Elementary STEAM Maritime Magnet community proposes Magnet Centers to address these demands and to increase the racial diversity from the elementary to high school continuum.   The Barton Hill Elementary STEAM Maritime Magnet will engage in a rigorous and academic program through the use of the Common Core State Standards (CCSS), Next Generation Science Standards (NGSS), interdisciplinary teaching models, and a differentiated curriculum. Community resources, parent involvement, and professional development will support these efforts.  Barton Hill Elementary STEAM Maritime Magnet will provide continuity between the elementary and high school science magnet programs.  Students will focus on Science and Technology, integrated with Engineering and Mathematics, all based in Artistic elements. We will provide unique STEAM opportunities for students to participate in our science enriched activities such as Boys and Girls Club STEAM Enrichment, Beyond the Bell, USS Iowa, Toberman, Grand Vision, Warner Grand, Angels Gate, STAR Art and Math, and many other programs and resources provided by informal education centers and our community partners.  Students may also have opportunities to participate in Science Exploration, Robotics classes, and Visual and Performing Arts.
