Program Description
Public Service Magnets are designed and tailored to prepare and young people who wish to pursue careers in criminology, fire, forensics, medicine, law and political science. There is strong focus on critical thinking, problem solving and communication, enabling students to see the connections between their classroom curriculum and the challenges of today’s world. These Magnets are ideal settings for future doctors, fire fighters, lawyers, police officers and other professions related to the Public Service field.

Magnet Vision:
Hamasaki Medical and Science Magnet will provide students with daily opportunities to utilize the 21st Century Skills of creating, collaborating, communicating, and thinking critically. Our school will foster a growth mindset, resiliency, self-esteem, and a global and social consciousness in our students. It is our goal that our students will leave Hamasaki not only fully prepared for secondary coursework, but with 21st Century Skills, proficiency in the use of technology, and a sense of citizenship and altruism.
Magnet Mission:
Hamasaki Medical and Science Magnet will build a robust foundation in science at the elementary level by engaging our students in hands-on, rigorous investigations based on the Next Generation Science Standards. Our school will work with our community partners to expose students to the field of medicine in order to give them a greater understanding of the potential careers available to them. Our goal is to develop a sense of efficacy in our students in the field of science that gives them the confidence to envision themselves as doctors, researchers, or other medical professionals.
