Visual and Performing Arts (VAPA) Magnets. Learning the skills and knowledge for creating, refining, and sharing works in the Arts, Media, and Entertainment industry promotes teamwork, communication, creative thinking, and decision-making abilities. These are all traits needed to function successfully in the competitive and media-rich 21st century. Whether the student has already achieved a level of accomplishment or demonstrated an interest or potential to grow in an art form, Visual and Performing Arts Magnets provide highly rewarding learning experiences.

At South Shores Magnet School for the Visual and Performing Arts, the curriculum is enriched by the visual and performing arts which greatly enhances our students' ability to reach higher levels of critical thinking, creativity, and academic achievement. The arts program includes our annual Primary-grade Production, Third-grade Art Show, and Upper-grade Production. It also includes specialized arts elective classes and the Art-to-Grow-On program. South Shores is the recipient of many rewards, including National Blue Ribbon, CA Distinguished School, CA School Boards Association Golden Bell, and the Los Angeles County Music Center Bravo Award.

Magnet Vision:
South Shores is a kindergarten through fifth-grade magnet elementary school located in San Pedro, serving students throughout the Los Angeles Unified School District (LAUSD). We provide a strong, well-rounded education in academics and the arts in a safe and welcoming environment. The Los Angeles Unified School District Beyond the Bell Branch South Youth Services Division provides an after school playground program consisting of organized games and open activities for students in grades 2-5. The South Youth Services Division has designated our after school playground be open from dismissal time until 6:00 p.m. This includes regular days, early dismissal days, and minimum days.
