Magnet Vision:
LeConte's Center for Enriched Studies magnet program focuses on the communications field and the arts. Throughout the school year, our CES students develop their communication skills via in-depth research resulting in a variety of written, visual, and oral presentations.
Magnet Mission:
Le Conte's Center for Enriched Studies (CES) focuses on Communications and the Arts. We are located on the campus of Le Conte Middle School. The purpose of the curriculum is to provide students access to academically rigorous and innovative coursework in Language Arts, Science, Social Studies, and Mathematics according to the Common Core Curriculum Standards. To augment the standards based curriculum, we offer a variety of enrichment opportunities; these include the dramatic arts, set design, instrumental band, introduction to law, photo journalism, and broadcast journalism. We also provide competitive experiences for our students in literature as we partake in Los Angeles’ Battle of the Books Annual Competition. LeConte’s CES Magnet aims to encourage and develope high-level readers, writers, thinkers, and ultimately, citizens. Our CES program is designed to provide every student an opportunity to learn in a nurturing atmosphere, incorporating individual learning styles, enabling them to compete, contribute and flourish in our ever changing, often times challenging, society.
