Program Description
Public Service Magnets are designed and tailored to prepare and young people who wish to pursue careers in criminology, fire, forensics, medicine, law and political science. There is strong focus on critical thinking, problem solving and communication, enabling students to see the connections between their classroom curriculum and the challenges of today’s world. These Magnets are ideal settings for future doctors, fire fighters, lawyers, police officers and other professions related to the Public Service field.

The Mulholland Middle School Junior Police Academy, founded in 2000 (the Nation's first Police Academy Middle School) provides students a rigorous academic program emphasizing law enforcement and civic service careers.Through academic rigor, respect, and responsibility, the program fosters leadership skills that develop students into successful, productive and contributing citizens of our community, who maintain a reverence for the law. Students participating in the Police Academy Magnet are required to wear and maintain uniforms that meet the standards of the Cadet Code (policies & practices that reflect the behavior of law enforcement and L.A.P.D. personnel).

Tuesday October 4 from 12:00 - 1:30 pm, and October 18, November 1, & November 8 from 8:30 -9:30 am. Please call the Magnet Office at the school site to reserve your tour time and to inquire about additional campus tours.

Mulholland Police Academy is a partnership with L.A.P.D. and provides a career pathway/ladder from Middle School through Community College, should a student choose to become a Police Officer. With PAMS (Police Academy Magnet Schools) a pathway is provided with 4 LAUSD High Schools (Monroe HS, Reseda HS, San Pedro HS, & Wilson HS) and then on through the POPPS (Police Orientation Preparation Program) which provides a 2 year College A.A. degree.

After-School Programs:
All Stars and a Youth Services Program begins immediately after-school until 6:00 pm. Parents must pick-up their child by 6:00 pm.
Other Theme-Based Activities:
The Cadets can join activities, such as Color Guard, which meets on Tuesday afternoons from 1:30 -3:00 pm. They participate in activities with other PAMS (Police Academy Magnet Schools) including Drill Competition, Leadership Conferences, T.C.A. (Toughest Cadet Alive) and the C.S.I Event hosted son our campus and at Reseda High School. This program takes our students to various field trips such as visiting the Police Historic Society Museum.
