Program Description
Visual and Performing Arts (VAPA) Magnets. Learning the skills and knowledge for creating, refining, and sharing works in the Arts, Media, and Entertainment industry promotes teamwork, communication, creative thinking, and decision-making abilities. These are all traits needed to function successfully in the competitive and media-rich 21st century. Whether the student has already achieved a level of accomplishment or demonstrated an interest or potential to grow in an art form, Visual and Performing Arts Magnets provide highly rewarding learning experiences.

Success Secret:
We are now entering our 31st year as a performing arts magnet and have a very impressive list of alumni who have succeeded in the performing arts over the years. At the Academy we blend the academics and the performing arts through working thematic each year. This past year our theme was the Harlem Renaissance and for 2017-2018, our theme is The Best of LA, celebrating LA legends. In April of 2016, we broke ribbon for our Adidas sponsored state of the art sound studio called Sound Waves.

Tour Information:
Tours are every Wednesday beginning October 4 through November 8. All tours are from 8:00 am to 10:00 am, in the Theater. No reservations are necessary.

The Academy of Music and Performing Arts views the arts as essential to the human spirit. We strive to graduate students who are ready to accept the multiple challenges because they have experience a diverse and stimulating education.
Magnet Mission:
AMPA engages and supports students who have a passion for the performing art. We seek to prepare students to make informed future educatonal and career choices by immersing them in challenging and rigorous performance programs which are fused academics, evolving technologies and profressional experience.

There are several pathways that students can choose: Drama, Musical Theater, Choral, Dance, Technical Theater, Piano, Music Technology and Instrumental, including, Jazz, Winds, Strings. Students are expected to choose a pathway and follow it throughout their 4 years.
